Shirley Bennett (née McDow) February 03, 1931 - December 10, 2004 Funeral arrangements by Atlantic Funeral Home (Dartmouth) BENNETT (McDow), Shirley - 73, Dartmouth, passed away December 10, 2004, in Northwood Nursing Home. Born February 3, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Elvie McDow (Rodney Road, Dartmouth). Shirley is survived by sisters, Gladys Victor, Prince Edward Island; Bernice MacEachern, Bridgewater; son, Ralph and his wife Pam and their sons Christopher and Patrick Bennett, all of New Glasgow; daughter, Joan Bennett and her daughters Amber (Bleakney) Leeman, Dartmouth, and Lisa Bleakney, Dartmouth. Shirley was predeceased by brothers, Ralph and Harris McDow; sisters, Jean Horne and Doris Myles; nephew, Eric Victor; beloved husband, George Bennett. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today, and funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main St., Dartmouth. Burial will be in Dartmouth Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Diabetes Association or Alzheimer Association of Nova Scotia.
