LeBLANC, Agnes Martha December 21, 1915 - December 29, 2007 Longtime resident of Canmore, Agnes LeBlanc (nee Speakman), passed away peacefully on December 29, 2007 at the age of 92. Family members were at her side to comfort her passing. Agnes's twilight years were spent in the compassionate and professional care of Dr. John and the caring staff of the Golden Eagle View extended care unit of the Canmore General Hospital. Agnes was predeceased by her husband, Rene, in May 2006. She is survived by her sons: Richard (Sheila) LeBlanc and Julien (Sharon) LeBlanc; daughters: Carmen (Bob) Carron, Margaret-Ann (Art) Bleakney, and Marie-Ellen (Earl) Blain. At the time of her death, Agnes had nine grandchildren (plus seven spouses), twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Agnes celebrated her 92nd birthday at a party on December 22, with thirty-one of the possible thirty-nine family members in attendance. Agnes was in obvious failing health at this time, so the party provided a great opportunity to celebrate her long life as well as say good-byes. She thoroughly enjoyed her day. Agnes was born December 21, 1915 in Edmonton. She married Rene LeBlanc in 1936. They lived in Canmore from 1937 to 1943, when they moved to Edmonton. In 1948, she moved to Montreal with Rene and four children. In 1957 they moved back to Edmonton with one more child in tow. In the 1960's and early 1970's Agnes worked at Jack and Jill's children's clothing store in Edmonton. In 1983, they moved to Canmore once again. Agnes was involved with the seniors and was in the choir at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Agnes also took pleasure in many hours of still and landscape painting. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church (Our Lady of the Rockies) in Canmore. Agnes's cremated remains will be inurned in the family plot in Edmonton as per her wishes. To send condolences: www.connelly-mckinley.com .
