HAWKSWELL, Frederick Anthony "Tony" - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family , at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Wednesday December 15, 2004 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of 46 years to Nancy (MacLean) Hawkswell. Loving father of David (Cindy) Hawkswell of Oakville and Chris (Billie) Hawkswell of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Cherished grandfather of Connor, Adam, Alyssa, Jordan, Spencer, Geoffrey and Emma. Dear brother of Joan Wherry of England and Kathleen (Clare) Kartes of Lindsay and brother-in-law of Neil (Jocelyn) MacLean of Burlington. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Bertram and brother-in-law Phillip. Tony was a seasoned sailor and had served in the Royal Navy for three years during World War II. He was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Scapular Church and he also served for twelve years on the Board of Directors at G.N.G.H. Tony was an avid fisherman and a seasoned traveller. Friends are invited to call at the Patterson Funeral Home, 6062 Main St. visiting Thursday 7-9 p.m. and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Scapular Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The Vigil for Tony will be celebrated on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
