Dr. Michael David Hirtenstein Funeral arrangements by O'Neill Funeral Home (Stouffville) Hirtenstein, Dr. Michael David (1946-2004) Dr. Michael David Hirtenstein died in Zambia recently while doing volunteer service for the Volunteer Service Organization. Born in Barnsley, England he obtained a Ph.D. in BioChemistry from the University of South Hampton, England. His career was spent mainly in the area of new BioTechnology. In 2002, Michael went to Magwero, Zambia to take a volunteer position as a school administrator for two schools, one for the blind & one for the deaf. Michael is survived by his 5 children, Simon, Laura, Alex, Anna & Sebastian who reside in Canada. He is also survived by his sister Ann Lev from Israel and his step-mother Susan Hirtenstein from England. Michael has 5 grandchildren. He is much missed and fondly remembered by many good friends & colleagues.Friends may call at O'Neill Funeral Home, 6324 main St. Stouffville (905-642-2855) on Wed.
