Margaret Doreen MCEACHREON

The death of Margaret Doreen McEachreon of Eastside Special Care Home, occurred at the local hospital on June 20th, at the age of 80. She was born in South Nelson, August 4th, 1928, the daughter of Gregory J. and Margaret (Fallon) McEachreon. She is survived by sisters, Joan Bratkiw and Elaine Rouble (Ambrose), brothers Terry McEachreon (Joan) of Miramichi, Tyrone McEachreon (Carol) of Kerwood, Ontario, sister-in-law Margaret McEachreon of Saint John, NB, several nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, great-grand-nephews and one great-grand-niece. She is predeceased by her parents, and brothers Gerald and Ronald, sister-in-law Gertrude, brother-in-law Wally, nephew Gregory, and niece Brenda. Doreen was a talented musician and artist, yet, was unable to pursue a career in these fields because of being stricken with epilepsy at 6 weeks of age and deafness at the age of 12, both of which carried a heavy stigma during her earlier life. Her time in Eastside Special Care Home with the loving care she received from the owners and staff attributed to such happiness for her in the final "season" of her life on earth. A private graveside committal service was conducted by Reverand, Father Jim McQuade, Pastor of Saint Patrick's Roman Catholic church in Nelson, with burial in the family plot.
