Sloboda Joseph 1926 - 2009 Peacefully on July 17th in the West Island of Montreal in his 83rd year. Joseph will be missed by his wife Amy (nee Gallichan), children Louis (Christine), Michael (Christine), Stephen (Wendy) & Sheila (Richard Boivin) and grandchildren John, Laura & Elaine; Jack & Suzanne; and Richard, Samantha & Joseph (Boivin). He was predeceased by his parents Louis & Anna and brother Frank and leaves behind his sisters Ann, Mary & Jenny. Joseph was born in Holic, Slovakia. He accompanied his mother to Canada when he was 3 years old. They joined his father in Arvida, Quebec where Joseph spent his formative years. He lived briefly in Tillsonburg, Ontario before joining the RCMP and settling in Montreal where he met Amy. In 1951, Joseph and Amy were married and he went to work for Canadian Steel Wheel. Joseph also worked for Excell-O & lastly, the Bank of Montreal from which he retired in 1991. Joseph was a big sports fan & supporter, coaching minor-league football in the West Island for a number of years. He also was fond of reading, walking, the great outdoors and aviation. A private cremation will take place.
