SANCTON, John William. Former city editor of The Gazette and long time editor and publisher of The Westmount Examiner. Peacefully on December 28, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital, from a blood disorder, age eighty-four. Survived by Mary, his devoted war bride of fifty-nine years, and his three sons and daughters-in-law: Andy and Pam of London, Ontario, Ted and Zsuzsi of Montreal, and Don and Jean of Beaconsfield. Also survived by his sister Alice Davies and the grandchildren who gave him such joy: Rebecca and Derek, Robin and Lara, Kimberley and Matthew. Pre-deceased by his brothers Ted and Dick. A private cremation and committal service will be held, with a public celebration of his life at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Rotary Club of Westmount would be appreciated at 4646 Sherbrooke Street West, Westmount, Quebec, H3Z 2Z8.
