KUNKEL, Lawrence Stephen - At Leisureworld on Tuesday, September 15, 2009 in his 82nd year. Lawrence Kunkel was the beloved husband of Isabelle Marie (Weiler) of North Bay and formerly of Powassan. He was the loving father of Clarise Hale (Jim) of B.C., Marlene Stokkeland (Gordon) of B.C., Martin Kunkel (Terri) of Powassan, Catherine Harling (Denis) of Corbeil, and Daniel Kunkel of Fort Erie. He was predeceased by his daughter Christine and one grand-daughter Emily. Lawrence was the proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was the dear brother of the late Henrietta Humphrey, the late Helen Aultman, Theresa Aultman of Powassan, Gerard Kunkel of Powassan, the late Vincent Kunkel, Bernadette Harrington, the late Betty Giesler, Eugene, Stephen and Ed Kunkel all of Powassan. The family will receive visitors at the PAUL FUNERAL HOME in Powassan on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Lawrence was a member of the Knights of Columbus Councils #7308 and #12106. A Knights of Columbus Tribute will be conducted Friday at 8:45 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in the St. Joseph's Church, Powassan. Cremation to follow with interment of ashes at Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date. If desired, donations in memory of Lawrence may be made to the Arthritis Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, the NEORCC or the charity of your choice.
