FLEMING, Gertrude 2009-09-23 Miss Gertrude Barbara (Trudy) Fleming passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. Trudy was born on June 2, 1945 in Fort William, Ontario and she attended Drew Street Public School, Fort William Collegiate and she graduated from McKellar School of Nursing in 1968. She was employed as a medical nurse, head nurse and night evening supervisor, and in 2000, Trudy retired for health reasons. Trudy was a volunteer with the Alzheimer’s Bingo and she enjoyed curling, bowling, playing cards and spending holidays with friends. She was also a life long lover of animals. Trudy is survived by her brother Sam (Anne); brother-in-law Bill Plunkett; nieces and nephews: Anne (Don) Stock, Michael (Shirley) Fleming, Robert Fleming, Rebecca, David and Andrew (Tory) Plunkett as well as numerous cousins and other relatives. Predeceased by her parents Samuel and Flossie Fleming and her sister Rebecca Plunkett. Funeral services for Miss Trudy Fleming will be held on Friday, September 25, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jenkens Funeral Home with pastor Ross Tomkins officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Jenkens Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation or the Thunder Bay & District Humane Society would be appreciated.
