BÉGIN, Lionel - In his 89th year at the Welland Hospital on Thursday, September 24, 2009 surrounded by his devoted family. Loving husband of 63 years to his best friend, Judith (Pigeon). Cherished father of Louanne Accursi (Rick), Marc (Beth) and Carl (Debbie). Dear brother of Robert (Lucille), Charles (Jeannette), Gerard (Lucille), Gaston (Jacqueline), Annette Nadeau and Marielle Brochu (Fernand). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Christopher and Kelly Arccursi and Kyle and Nicholas Bégin. He was predeceased by his infant son Richard, parents Charles and Emma, brothers Roland, Paul-Emile and Phillipe, and sisters Marie-Paul Bouchard, Marie Anna Talbot and Alfreda Litalien. Lionel retired in 1982 after 42 years at the Union Carbide. He enjoyed bowling and spent many an afternoon playing cards with his friends at the Club Social. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses from the CCAC for their excellent care; a special thank you to Paula of the Red Cross who cared for Dad with compassion and dignity. The family will receive relatives and friends at the WELLAND FUNERAL HOME 827 East Main Street Welland on Sunday September 27, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 10am in Église du Sacré Coeur. Interment to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery.
