John STONEHEWER

OBITUARY JOHN STONEHEWER 1923-2004 Passed away at the Father Dowd Home on his Wedding Anniversary, December 29, 2004. Beloved husband of Ethel Roskies and loving father of Judith Stonehewer, Christine Southmayd (Alan Moscovitch) and the late Ian. Devoted grandfather of Stephanie, Sophie and Charlotte. Caring stepfather of Naomi Roskies (Alex Neuman) and the late Jonathan; and stepgrandfather of Richard, Michael, Karina and Elianne. He is also survived by his former wife Lila. John was born in Portland, Oregon, and grew up in Victoria, BC. He came to Montreal on a scholarship to McGill. He was a Class Agent for the 1946 Faculty of Engineering Class until shortly before his death. Most of his working life was spent with Alcan Aluminum, retiring as Chief Engineer in 1984. Subsequently he returned to university earning a B.A. at the Liberal Arts College of Concordia University. He was a gentleman and will be mourned by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of the Mount Royal Funeral Complex: 1297 Chemin de la Foret, Outremont (279-6540) on Friday, December 31 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Faculty of Engineering of McGill University (398-1497), The Alzheimer Society (369-0800) or the Alzheimer Groupe (485-7233).
