BROENNLE, Ruth 2009-10-03 The family of Ruth Marie Jennings Broennle are saddened to announce her passing on September 28, 2009 at the age of 74. Ruth was a vibrant, independent woman with a passion for learning and reading, proven by being the recipient of the Confederation College President‘s Medal 1974 for the Social Work Program. She possessed a wandering spirit which led her to become a cook on various ships throughout the Great Lakes and move to Newfoundland at the age of 60 to attend University. Ruth drove school bus for several years as well as Hagi Transit. Always the entrepreneur, Ruth also owned and operated a clothing store. Ruth was a very spiritual person, studied many different religions, but always held a determined faith that there was a higher being guiding us all. Her ability to find beauty and joy in the simplest things like the sun on your face confirmed this belief. Ruth loved being outside even on the coldest winter day. It was not unusual for Ruth to ride her 10 speed from Westfort to Murillo on the hottest July day because she felt like going for ice cream. Ruth was predeceased by her parents George and Marie Jennings, brothers Ken and Phil and sisters-in-law Dolly, Helen and Lyla. Missed by her greatest love, her family. Son Dean, his wife Lori and their daughters Morgan, Ramsey and Tevis. Son Mark, his wife Lenora, their daughter Rayna and her children Justin, Gregory and Lorraine. Son Kirk, his children Caleigh and Eric and their mother Trish. Son Todd, his wife April and their sons Mathias, Landon and Tyson. Son Brock, his children Jesse and Melissa, and her children Destiny, Erika and Courtney. Also missed by Fred, father of her sons as well as many special nieces and nephews and their extended families. Ruth‘s family offers sincere thanks to the caregivers at Thunder Bay Long Term Interim Care. We shall be forever grateful for the dignity and respect shown to Ruth. You are all “dears.” As per Ruth‘s wishes, no services will be held. The family asks that you honour her life by delighting in a long walk on a beautiful day, approaching everything in life with a positive attitude, always have a good book to read, and above all, be kind to others. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the organization that honours Ruth‘s friend Faye Peterson. Faye Peterson Transition House P.O. Box 10172 Thunder Bay P7B 6T7 or the charity of your choice. Online condolences may be made through www.nwfainc.com
