OBITUARY JAMES EVANS MORGAN It is with a great sense of loss that we announce the passing of Jim Morgan on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the DVA Veterans Health Unit, Fredericton, NB. Jim's early years growing up in Montreal West, studying economics at McGill University, and his marriage in 1940 to Barbara Newman (1917-2000), were interrupted, as were the lives of many of his generation, by World War II. The war took him away from his family and home to the battlefields of Europe where he served with 5th Canadian Division (Signals) in Italy. Upon his return almost four years later, Jim resumed his career with the Royal Bank of Canada, and a life of devotion to family, friends, volunteer services, and the Bank, from which he retired as Deputy Manager, Chief Corporate Planning Officer in 1976. He then served for two years as Chairman of the Bank Act Revision Committee until 1978 when he and Barbara began a long and happy retirement in Knowlton, PQ, with interludes in Menton, France. While Jim's passing will be mourned, his and Barbara's life will be celebrated as long as memory serves those they leave behind; son, David (Helen); daughter, Beverly Pinnock (Marty); granddaughter, Ann; grandson, Chris; great grandson, Chase; sister Jean Soper (Jim); many nieces and a nephew; friends and colleagues. A Private Graveside Committal will take place in St. John's Anglican Church Cemetery, Brome, PQ on Friday, September 18, 2009 at 2 p.m. with Father Paul Tydmond officiating. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com. Published in the Montreal Gazette on 9/16/2009
