LABELLE, Jean (nee Gillies) 1921 - 2009 Passed away peacefully with family by her side, September 18, 2009 at the Longfield Manor Residence in Ottawa. She leaves behind her; twin sister Shirley Gillies, her children Donald (Laurie, grandsons David and Christopher), Margaret, Ken (Louise and "grandson" Rusty) and Tom (Leslie and step granddaughter Katherine) and was predeceased by her grandchildren Martin and Catherine. Jean will be missed by her in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and many long-time friends. Mum was well known for her baking skills, being a top agent for Regal Stationery for over forty years, working and volunteering for many years at Ste. Rose Elementary School. Jean was a nanny to Jonathan Pallet and had a special relationship with his family. In her final days, she fondly recalled her friends at the Wellesley in Pointe Claire. Special thanks for the love and devotion from Margaret and her supportive friends, Dr. Tee and the staff at Longfield Manor (Gardenview). Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Jean's life, at St Monica's Church on 6504 Terrebonne, NDG September 25, 2009 at 11 a.m. Family will receive one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Quebec or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Published in the Montreal Gazette on 9/22/2009
