KERBY , Helen Margaret May 1916 - September 2009 Helen Margaret Kerby, May 1916 to September 2009, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Friday, September 18. Helen was an integral part of the Pines Lodge family for many years and loved her life there. She lived selflessly and was most often found trying to make everyone's life just a little bit better. Helen touched countless lives with her smile and generosity over the years, and she maintained her sense of humour all the way to the end. She will be missed. Helen was born and raised at Grindrod in the North Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. She was the last remaining sibling of the Dangel family (predeceased by Max, Marie and Frank). Helen is survived by William, her husband of sixty-five years, her children Bill (Helga), David (Mitzi) and Margaret (Roy). She has always had an active role in the lives of her beloved grandchildren William, Nathan, Erin (Sebastian), Julie (Ryan), Daniel (Kate), Kristine (Austin), Karen (Andrew), Ken (Erin) and her great-grandchildren David, Evan, Anja, Merenna, Eisla, Charlie and Tyler. Also remembered is Helen's special relationship with Trudy Kerby and Neil Honkanen. Special "thanks" to the Red Deer Hospital Emergency department, Dr. Hart, and the caring staff on Unit 31 for taking such good care of Mom during her illness. Thanks to the staff from Home Care and to everyone at the Pines Lodge who made it easy for Mom to call The Pines "Home". Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be held at Kentwood Alliance Church, 4 Kennedy Drive, Red Deer on Wednesday, September 23, at 2:00 p.m., officiated by Pastor Rob McLaren of Unity Baptist Church. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to Relief & Support Services (Africa), 935 Mabel Lake Road, Enderby, British Columbia ( www.reliefandsupport.org/index.html ). Messages of condolence may be forwarded to the family at www.pafs.net . PERSONAL ALTERNATIVE FUNERAL SERVICES Unit 1, 6828 - 50 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta T4N 5G1 (Phone: 403-341-5181) entrusted with arrangements. Published in the Calgary Herald on 9/23/2009
