Marie Violet MCCAFFREY

McCAFFREY , Marie Violet May 15, 1923 - September 17, 2009 We have lost our dear mother and she will be sadly missed by all her family: her sister, Lorraine Crouden of Winnipeg, and children Lorraine Devost (Gary, Danial) of Red Deer; Matt McCaffrey (Cynthia, Kate, Elizabeth) of Calgary; Anne Marie Couperwhite (Iain) of Sydney, Australia; and Mark McCaffrey (Patti-Jo, Andrew) of Tucson, Arizona. Other grandchildren include Tim McCaffrey of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Rebecca McCaffrey of Tucson, Arizona; Brett McCaffrey of Calgary; Owen McCaffrey of Vancouver; and Sarah McCaffrey of Calgary. Also one great-grandchild, Jaydon, and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was predeceased by her husband Raymond McCaffrey coincidentally thirty-one years ago to the day in 1978. She was also predeceased by sons Dennis McCaffrey (1996) and Michael McCaffrey (2003), and her sister, Harriet Vernon (2008). Marie was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and married Raymond in 1946 after his serving in the RCAF in World War II. She then followed Raymond throughout his career in the petroleum industry with stops in Regina, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Calgary and Edmonton. She returned to Calgary in 1978 following the passing of Raymond. Marie loved to spend time with her children at Buffalo Lake, Alberta, and in both Arizona and Australia. A celebration of Marie's life will take place at a future date (early November) and will be announced. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of Bow View Manor (First Floor Alberta/Diefenbaker; Second Floor Victoria/Palliser, and all support staff). Their continual kindness and compassion was overwhelming and is gratefully recognized. Also special thanks to Dr. David Todd, who was always there to care for her.
