Heather Elfreda EDE

VAUGHAN , Heather August 1, 1921 - September 23, 2009 Heather Elfreda (Ede) Vaughan of Cochrane passed away at Bow Crest Care Centre in Calgary on September 23, 2009 at the age of 88 years. Born August 1, 1921 in England, she came to Windermere, B.C. at age three with her parents Ernest and Winifred Ede and younger brother Ron. She moved to Dog Pound, AB, following her marriage to Raymond Vaughan in 1941. They farmed in the Dog Pound district until Raymond's death in 1968. She and Carol rented a house from Jansen's shortly after. Then in 1983 she moved to an apartment in Cochrane. In 2001 she moved to Big Hill Lodge and then to the Bow Crest Care Centre in Calgary in 2004. Heather was an excellent cook and loving mother. Over the years she was active in the Dog Pound Bluebirds and Madden Ladies' Clubs. She is survived by her son Walter (Wendy) Vaughan of Crossfield, AB, daughter Carol (Roy) Gano of Rycroft, AB, four grandchildren, Alberta (Corey) Telfer; Amanda (Roggero) Ciofani; Dustin and Kevin Gano, and one great-granddaughter, Una Telfer. She is also survived by one brother, Gordon (Alyce) Ede, of Invermere, B.C., and one sister, Myrtle Wilder of Fairmont, B.C. Heather was predeceased by her husband Raymond in 1968 and earlier by two sons, Gerald as an infant, and Jim in 1964. She was also predeceased by her brother, Ron of Invermere, B.C., and two sisters, Joyce Todd of Parksville, B.C. and Eleanor Statham of Athalmere, B.C. Heather is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. A family Graveside Service will be held at the Crossfield Cemetery. A Memorial Service for Heather will be held at St. Andrews United Church (128 - 1 Street East, Cochrane, Alberta) on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.commemorativeservices.ca .
