ALLRED , Doreen (nee Day) Passed away from Alzheimer's disease at the age of 91 years in Burnaby, BC, on Saturday, September 19, 2009. Doreen was born August 29, 1918, in Standard, Alberta, she lived as a child in Field, BC, and spent most of her adult life in Calgary except for a ten year hiatus in the U.S., and the last ten years in Burnaby. In her younger years, she worked in retail sales but found a real talent in photo retouching and coloring. Some thirty years later, she graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Fine Arts. Survivors include her two sons Lorin Dehlin of North Vancouver, BC and Dale Vance of Denver, Colorado. Doreen was predeceased by her husband of fifty-eight years Dehlin Allred, brother Allan Day of Calgary, and her sister Constance McNainy of Burnaby, BC. Viewing will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 26 at BURQUITLAM FUNERAL HOME, 625 North Road, Coquitlam, BC. Memorial Service may be held at a later date in Calgary, AB.
