STRONG, Rev. Florence B. Retired Principal - Lady Evelyn P.S. Peacefully, on Thursday, September 24, 2009. Florence's life was lived as an ongoing ministry devoted to the care and nurture of those around her. In the fields of Christian education and in the public school education she enabled children and adults to discover the depths of their potential and encouraged them to fulfill their possibilities in life. Florence served as a Christian educator in several churches in California and British Columbia, and then as librarian, teacher and elementary principal within the Ontario public school system in Oakville, Toronto and Ottawa. Florence was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Dr. George W. Strong; loving and loved mother of Susan (Peter MacLaren), Karen (Bill Robbins), Marylynn, and Whitman (Christine Gross); and grandmother to Logan, Matthew, and Johanna and Catie. Dear sister of, her twin brother, the late Ralph Jr. (Eva Barron) and Barbara (the late Shap Drisko). Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore Dr. and Baseline Rd.) on Wednesday, October 21, 7:00 - 9:00 pm. A service celebrating her life will be held at City View United Church, 6 Epworth Avenue on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Peter D.
