OBITUARY STUART B. DOAK "Together forever" in a marriage of unceasing love, Stuart joined Dotte on September 12, 2009. Born in Quebec City in 1914, he was predeceased by brothers Bob (wounded) and Gordon (killed) in WWII. He was a devoted father to John and Robin and is lovingly remembered by in-laws Nen and Ian and nieces and nephews: Leslie, Eleanor, Margie, Douglas, John-Lawrence, Joni, Bethy, David, Bryson, Anna-Jean, Donny, Ronny, Patsy and Betsy and the many Doak cousins. Special thanks to the friendship, care and compassion of Myriam, Lorie, Angela, Inez and Dorothy. He had ever happy memories of brother Bob and an epic 1934 journey with Gordon, paddling their homemade canoe from Sorel, down the Saint Lawrence, up the Saguenay, across Lake St. John and 100 miles up the Peribonka where they lost canoe and equipment, barely surviving the wilderness to walk to safety. A star football and hockey player for Bishop's University, Stuart won a full hockey scholarship to Clarkson Tech, playing until age 88. An Alcan engineer, he made aluminum in Beauharnois, TO., Shawinigan, Arvida and Kitimat. He obtained various patents for Alcan and designed and constructed two stone homes. At age 51, he went back to university to become a teacher, a vocation from which he never really retired. We remember his quick mind, indomitable spirit, charity and the kindness he shared with all. With Dotte as his guiding light, Stuart supported dozens of charities.
