WILSON , John Richard John Richard Wilson passed away suddenly at home on September 21, 2009 at the age of 81. A friend to all, John will be remembered for his quick wit and his fun-loving disposition. Survived by his loving family, of whom he was immensely proud; Alta Elaine (nee Brown), his wife of fifty-eight years, son Jim (Sandra) and daughters Janet Canning (David) and Mary Ann Bertrand (Serge). John's pride and joy were his loving grandchildren Sarah, Teresa, Ali, Daniel, Robert and Jenny. He is also survived by his cherished sister Margaret Hiscox (Tom) and sisters-in-law Lois Bell, and Donna Kauffmann and was predeceased by his sister Elspeth Hext. Born and raised in Calgary, John graduated from the Olds School of Agriculture and U of A, where he was an enthusiastic member of Phi Delta Theta. A long career in the forest industry took him from Canada to the UK and back. John enjoyed many years living in London, England and the last forty years in West Vancouver, however he remained a Calgarian at heart. John was active in the West Vancouver Seniors' Centre and more recently the West Vancouver Adult Day Centre where he spent many happy hours. Rest in peace, beloved John. You will be missed. Please join the family in a celebration of John's life on Sunday, October 18 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the ballroom of the Holiday Inn, North Vancouver. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the "Lions Gate Foundation earmarked for the West Vancouver Adult Day Centre". Published in the Calgary Herald on 9/26/2009
