John BALD

BALD, John - 1915 - 2009 Passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sept 7th 2009 at the age of 94. He is survived by his wife of 62 years Yvonne Bald, son John Bald and wife Wilma Bald (Olsthoorn), grandsons Johnathan, Konrad and Austin Bald and son in law Bob Pelligrini (Miami), brother Mitek Bald and Niece Malina Wolska (Poland). John was tragically predeceased by his daughter Kristiane Pellegrini (Bald) (Miami) on June 26th 2009. John and Yvonne Bald started their life in Canada in 1952 and soon settled in St. Catharines. John opened his Barber Shop on Queenston Street and then in 1961 moved to the Pen Center and quickly became known as “John the Barber”. He was famous for giving the best and quickest haircuts cuts in town. In his retirement years, he was a fixture in the food court at the Pen, with his many friends. He was still plying his trade until recently to a few favourite long time customers. His playful nature, perpetual tan and great hair will be missed by all of us. He was a loving and supportive husband, caring father and a proud grandfather. A private family cremation has taken place. The Church mass will be held in his name at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 3 Oblate St. Catharines at 11:00 am Saturday, October 3rd. Following the mass, the family will hold a luncheon reception at The St. Catharines Golf & Country Club, 70 Westchester Cres. 12:00 to 2:30 pm.
