Fraser, Lois Merrill - Peacefully at home on August 20 at age 81. She will be cherished and missed by those in whose memories she will never die - her sister Laura Gardner, her four children Rick, Merrill, John and Nancy, their spouses Marie-Claire Michaud, Maria Yax and Colin Carson, as well as her nine grandchildren Emily, Nicky, Russ, Sid, Amy, Sam, Niko, Lucas and Rebekah. She was predeceased by her brother Fred Sparling, his wife Ruth, brother-in-law Bill and her former husband Robert. Lois lived her life to the fullest - cherishing time spent loving and being loved by her family, delighting in her many friends, serving her community and travelling extensively. In addition to achieving a Master’s degree in Social Work, she was a voracious reader, a gourmet cook, an amateur historian, a political pundit, a decipherer of mystery books, a home champion of Jeopardy, a solver of countless crossword puzzles and throughout, a model of grace, good manners, and proper grammar to her children and grandchildren. Her compassion and generous spirit were reflections of her strong faith which guided her daily life. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 23rd at the Mount Royal United Church, Montreal. In lieu of flowers, donations to the ALS Society of Canada would be appreciated.
