BERNET, Christian George 'Chris' - Peacefully on Tuesday, October 13th, 2009 at the St. Catharines General Hospital in his 95th year. Beloved husband of the late Florence (Needham) (1981). Loving father of Judith Avryl. Brother of Albert “Bernie“ of England. Chris was born in London, England in 1915. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the British Armed Forces. Chris came to Canada, living in Toronto and eventually coming to St. Catharines. He worked at the St. Catharines General Hospital as an orderly until 1980, retiring at the age of 65. Chris loved to travel in Canada and the U.S., and kept fit by taking aqua classes at West Park Pool. He was a former member of N.P.F. Naturalists, G.C. Horticultural Society and the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch #350). The family will receive friends at the HAMMOND FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday, October 17th at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow. If so desired, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
