Charles Albert MITCHELL

MITCHELL, Major The Reverend Charles Albert CD. BA. Med. Lth. - In his 81st year after a brief battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Audrey (Spencer), loving father of Miriam and husband Terry Hills; and David Mitchell and wife Susan Thrathen. Proud grandfather of Andrew and Samantha Hills. Dear brother of Eileen and husband Leslie Pike and brother in law of Allan Spencer. Charles was Rector of St. Barnabas Church, St. Catharines from 1963 - 1970 and continued to assist at both St. John's, Thorold and St. George's, St. Catharines. He then taught at NFCVI and AN Myer with the former Niagara South Board of Education until his retirement. Charles served as Padre of the Lincoln and Welland Regiment and Branch 24 of the Royal Canadian Legion, as well was a member of the Lincoln and Welland Regimental Band. Charles was a perpetual student, a graduate of Bishop's University, St. Chad's College and Niagara University, he continued to audit courses at Brock University until he was 70. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2009 at 3 p.m. at St. Barnabas Church, 31 Queenston St. with The Reverend Keith Whittingham officiating. A Legion Service will also be held prior at the church at 11 o'clock a.m. Cremation to follow. Inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Barnabas' Columbarium.
