HANSON, Robert “Bud“ - Of Welland, peacefully at the Welland County General Hospital on Friday, October 16, 2009 in his 85th year. Cherished husband for over 60 years to the late Edith Hanson. Beloved father of Carol Roberts (Scott) of Niagara Falls. Loving grandfather of James Gilbert (Angela) of Welland. Loved great grandfather of Darion and Bradley. Also survived by his close friend Joan Onfrichuk and a number of nieces and nephews. Born in Welland, Mr. Hanson remained a lifelong resident of the city and proudly served his country as a Paratrooper with the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a retired employee of Union Carbide with over 40 years of service. Bud was president of the Welland Senior Citizens Friendly Club and the Golden Age Seniors Bowling League (Club 55+) and was a Lifetime Member of the Moose Lodge. The family will receive friends at the H.L. CUDNEY FUNERAL HOME, 241 West Main Street, Welland, on Monday, October 19th from 6-9pm. A private interment of cremated remains will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.
