PITRE, Alcide J. - In loving memory of Alcide J. Pitre, 82 years, who passed away peacefully with his family by his side on October 30th, 2004 at Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site. Born in Capreol on November 12th, 1921 where he lived most of his life except for when he served with the Canadian Governor General Foot Guards, Fourth Division, Tank Corps, he wore the Green patch for 3 years in the European Theatre. A loving and caring family man with a wonderful sense of humour, he will be sadly missed by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many friends. He will also be missed by his Comrades on Nov. 11th for he was always proud to commemorate the sacrifice of his fellow Canadians who served in the Second World War. After 36 years of service at CN Rail he retired as a Locomotive Engineer in 1976. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 179 and the War Pensioners of Canada, and also a member of the Clearview Golf Club and an avid card player. Beloved husband for 62 years to Patricia Pitre (nee Harvey) of Capreol. Loving father of Teresa (husband Larry Ayerst) of Capreol, Diana (husband John Mathany) of Wallaceburg, Russell (wife Charlotte) of Stoney Plains, Alberta, Philip predeceased 1985 and David (wife Brenda) of Barrie. Cherished grandfather of Terry Lee (husband Claude), Glenn (wife Linda), Darrin (partner Carol), Mark (wife Tiina), Todd (wife Kim), David, Ashley, Lisa, Tyrell and great-grandchildren Lauryn, Ryan, Patrick, Matthew, Andrew and Alexandra. Dear son of Napoleon and Alice (Harrison) Pitre predeceased. Dear brother of Florence of Midland, Aldege of Val Caron, Isabel Proctor (husband Don) of Vancouver, B.C. and the late Annie Dubois, Edward, Orval, Edgar, Dennis and Albert Pitre all predeceased. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews. Resting at LOUGHEED FUNERAL HOME, HANMER/CAPREOL CHAPEL, 4605 Michelle Drive, Hanmer. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Peace Church, Capreol, Wednesday, November 3rd, 2004 at 11 a.m. Interment in the Capreol Cemetery. Prayers 4:45 p.m. Tuesday. A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday under the auspices of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #179, Capreol, and the War Pensioners of Canada. Donations to the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Heart Equipment Fund would be appreciated. (Friends may call 2-5; 7-9 p.m. Tuesday).
