McINNES, George - Passed away at home, surrounded by family, on October 20, 2009. Loving husband of Lorene (Lori). Devoted father of Suzanne, John (Nancy), Andrea (Allen) and son-in-law of Marie Cook (Herb). Proud grandpa of Gavin and Claire MacDougall, Matthew and Madelyn McInnes and honorary grandpa of Lucas and Nathan Ferron, Eric and Adam Alcaraz. Dear brother of Marion (Bruce) Luke and brother-in-law of Thomas (Kathy) Algoe, David (Gail) McCutcheon and Ron (Debbie) McCutcheon. Uncle of Billy Luke, Danny Luke, Rob Luke, Alex McInnes, Vicky Krajnak, Doug McCutcheon, Beth McCutcheon, Ronnie McCutcheon, Kristin Algoe, Shannon Algoe, Keith McCutcheon and Katie McCutcheon. Also, special uncle of Daun (Roger) Ferron. Survived by many great nieces and nephews. A friend to many, but especially to Reg and Madeleine MacGregor, Ken and Cathy Teshima and Ted and Joy Fretz. He will be missed by his faithful dog Ginnes. Predeceased by his wife Carol McCutcheon, his mother Margaret McInnes and his brother Ian McInnes. George was born in Brantford, ON in 1937. He moved to the Niagara Region to accept a teaching position with the Merriton Public School Board in 1960. George was a lifelong educator dedicated to the development of children. He retired as a principal from Niagara South Board of Education in 1992. He then turned his love of antique cars into a successful business. He actively operated McInnes Antique Auto until December 2008 when ownership was transferred to his son John and his wife Nancy. George was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. His quiet and humble demeanor made him a true gentleman. George loved the outdoors and was an avid car enthusiast and animal lover. His loving nature and sense of humor will be missed by many. Special thanks to Dr. Hogg and Dr. Joshua (Princess Margaret Hospital), nurses Lynn and Zoltan and many personal support workers. Cremation has taken place. George's family will receive friends at MORGAN FUNERAL HOME, 415 Regent Street, Niagara-in-the-Lake on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held at Twenty Valley Golf and Country Club, 3814 Yonge Street, Vineland on Sunday afternoon at 1:00, followed by a luncheon celebrating George's life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Princess Margaret Hospital or Hospice Niagara. Online guest register at www.morganfuneral.com.
