SHEWFELT, Wayne Alfred (Cap) - It is with heavy hearts we announce that on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the age 66 Wayne's courageous battle for life ended peacefully at the Algoma Residential Community Hospice. Proud father of Tanya Plimmer (Dave) and Grandfather of Rebecca and Joshua all of Calgary, Alberta. Oldest and much loved son of Jean Ewan and the late Alfred Shewfelt and stepson of the late Clifford Ewan. Beloved soul mate of Holly Brownlee. Cherished brother of Gary, Terry (Donna) and Bradley (Terry) Shewfelt. Forever remembered uncle of Terry (Sarah), Trisha Daynard (Travis) and great uncle of Abbigail Daynard. Everyone who knew Cap knew of his passion for hockey and we know that the goaltender is the most important ingredient of a hockey team. Faithfully with his love for the game Cap proudly took his place between the pipes until nearly 60 years of age when he was no longer able to play due to his illness. Friends are invited to join Wayne's family at the Echo Bay Elks Hall on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from noon until 3pm when long time friend Tom Hendrick will lead us in a celebration of Wayne's life. Interment of cremated remains to follow at the Port Findlay Cemetery. The Family would appreciate donations be made in Wayne's memory at the O'SULLIVAN DONNELLY FUNERAL HOME (759-8456) to the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (A.R.C.H.). A heartfelt thank you to the amazing staff at the A.R.C.H. for the compassion and dignity shown to Wayne while he was in their care. A special thank you to Eunice King who went above and beyond the call of friendship. To Wayne's friends, words can not express our gratitude to all who have been by his side throughout his entire illness. Wayne as well was truly grateful for your support and friendship.
