IRWIN, Mr. Richard - At his residence surrounded by his loving and devoted family, Mr. Richard “Dick“ Irwin of Chatham at the age of 72. Cherished son of the late Thomas and Izetta Irwin. Beloved husband of Lorraine. Loving father of Penny Cormier and Ted Irwin, both of Chatham, and loving step-dad of David and Carla Green of North Bay, Mark Green of Chatham, and Jana and Larin Shouldice of London. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Kristen, Drew, Zachary, Sean, Ashley and Jessy. Dick served with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was an active member and Past President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #28. Dick retired from Meritor after 37 years of service. He was a well known member of the Y.M.C.A. and was also a coach for many years for Minor Hockey in Blenheim. He enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. Family and friends are invited to the ALEXANDER FUNERAL HOME, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 on Sunday October 25th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The service for Mr. Irwin will be conducted from Christ Church, 80 Wellington West, Chatham, on Monday October 26th at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Millward of Christ Church officiating. Cremation to follow. A graveside service will be held November 7th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., Maple Leaf Cemetery. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider the Legion Branch #28 Building Fund and the Canadian Cancer Society.
