KALAGIAN, George (Hunch) - Passed away with his loving family by his side on Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Virginia Kalagian (nee Torosian) for 61 years. Cherished father of Marty(Marilyn) and George (Heather). Loving grandfather of Matthew, Michael, Joey and Katie Kalagian. Special friend of Vaughn Aloian. George was a W.W.II Merchant Marine Veteran who was awarded numerous medals for active service in different theaters during the war years of 1939-1945. He worked for the Government of Canada - Department of Transport at the Pilotage Office on Lakeshore Road in St. Catharines. A special thanks to Dr. G Jakibchuk and the caring and loving staff of the Palliative Care Unit, St. Catharines General Hospital. George is resting at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines. The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 2-4 p.m., & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday at 4 p.m., in the funeral home chapel. Cremation to follow. A private family interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Shaver Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
