McDONALD, Sister Elinor Catherine - Sister Elinor McDonald, R.H.S.J. (Sister St. Mary Magdalen) died peacefully at St. Joseph Regional House in Amherstview, Ontario on October 30, 2009 Sister was 99 years of age of which 72 years were spent in Religious Life. Sister Elinor was born in North Lancaster, Ontario, the daughter of Agnes Mahon and Donald McDonald. Sister is predeceased by her parents, her brothers Gordon and Joseph, and her sister, Alice Maher. In 1955 Sister Elinor became the first Administrator of the new Hotel Dieu Hospital on McConnell Avenue and had played a key role in the planning of this new facility. Friends & family will be received at St. Joseph Regional House, 16 Manitou Crescent E., Amherstview, ON on November 1, 2009 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Family Chapel, St. Joseph Regional House on November 2, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Rite of Committal with prayers in St. Mary's Cemetery.
