Il était le fils de feu Jason Monette et de feu Blanche Martin. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse Carmel Carroll, sa fille Roxann (Roger Paris) de Gatineau, ses petits-enfants: Chanelle, Tristan et Audrey, ses frères et soeurs: Gérald (Lucienne Bruyère) de Maniwaki, Frida (feu Gilles Carle) de Hull, Wally (Olive St-Aubin) de Campbell's Bay, Wellard (Betty Leclair) de Val D'Or, Viviane (Marcel Larche) de Maniwaki, Kathleen (Jean-Marc Lévesque) de Val D'Or et Suzanne (André Lanthier) de Déléage, ses belles-soeurs: Elizabeth (John Lévis) de Maniwaki, Rachel Carroll de Hull et Alvira (Neil Galbraith) de Michigan ainsi que plusieurs neveux et nièces et de nombreux ami(e)s. Il fut prédécédé par ses beaux-parents: James Carroll et Annie Lannigan et son beau-frère Patrick Carroll.
