He was an adored brother in law, uncle, great uncle, and cousin. His relationship to his father in law Leon Gluzman was unique. Born in Cornerbrook, NFLD, he was the devoted son of the late Ernest and Ida Levitz, and never forgot his Maritime roots. He was involved as a board member and served as President on a number of community organizations, most notably as President of the Jewish Federation of Ottawa (2001-2003). Gerry was frequently formally recognized for his commitments to his profession and community among which were the Governor General of Canada's Golden Jubilee Medal (2002), the Ken McQuillan Lifetime achievement award from DFK International, and the Gilbert Greenberg distinguished service award by the Ottawa Jewish Community (2006).
