CORBIELL , Jerome "Jerry" March 5, 1930 to October 2, 2009 With grieving hearts the family of Jerry Corbiell announces his peaceful passing on October 2, 2009 following a courageous battle with cancer. Jerry is forever cherished by his loving wife, Marilyn; children, Michelle (John) Desmarais, Garry (Joan) Corbiell, Kelly (Ed) Alcock, all of Calgary, and Darren (Jana) Corbiell of Cluny, Alberta; grandchildren, Christopher (Stephanie) Desmarais, Danielle Desmarais, Kyle Corbiell, Samantha Alcock, Dylan Corbiell, Stephanie Alcock, Kyra Corbiell and Kole Corbiell. He now joins in heaven his much loved wife, Jackie (August 2004); his parents, Joseph and Angelique; and his brother, Oliver. Jerry will also be remembered by Marilyn's family in Edmonton, who were so kind to him during his time in Edmonton. Jerry loved them as his own. Born in Cluny, Alberta on March 5, 1930, Jerry graduated from Bow Valley Central High School in his home town in June, 1948. Jerry farmed in the Cluny area throughout his entire life, and celebrated his marriage to Jackie Cretin in November of 1956. Though always maintaining his passion for farming, in 1962 he decided to challenge the world of agriculture and joined the United Grain Growers. From there he went to work with Farm Credit Corporation, and did so until he retired in 1982. Jerry always loved working with people and continued consulting and teaching for many years after. Jerry's pride and joy were his family - his wife, children, grandchildren, and the in-laws who were always a source of great pride. He never had a bad word for any of them, and they all knew how much they were loved and respected. Jerry cared for his wife, Jackie, during a lengthy illness until she died in August, 2004. Jerry was fortunate to find his High School love, Marilyn, later in life, and shared a few precious and loving years with her in the Edmonton area. Jerry's family thanks Marilyn for her love and making their Dad happy once again. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at St. Mary's parish in Cluny, Alberta on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow at the Cluny Hall. Private Interment will follow. Memorial Service will be held at the Riverbend United Church, 14907 - 45 Avenue, Edmonton on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, (No. 150, 9405 - 50 Street, Edmonton, AB T6B 2T4).
