MORGAN, Gordon Gordon Morgan (92 years young) passed away on October 4, 2009 at his home in Ottawa. Gordon was born in Ottawa on February 20, 1917 where he lived most of his life. He served in WWII in the Royal Canadian Air Force where he met his beautiful future wife Terry. Terry and Gordon were married soon after they met and enjoyed many happy decades together. Terry passed away in March 2002. On his return to Ottawa after the war, he joined Ontario Hydro, where he retired after 34 years and continued to keep in touch with his Hydro colleagues. Gordon took up playing badminton when he was 12 years old and became an avid player. As a long term RA member, he made many close friends and continued to play competitively until he was 86 years old. At 86, he won the "80 plus" men's doubles at the Canadian Masters Championships in Montreal. RA members remember him as a two time club champion in men's doubles (1964 and 1970). In his later years, he switched to playing Bridge at the RA and the Bridge Connection and enjoyed playing almost daily. He was a serious sports fan and enjoyed watching sports on his TV with his cat Buddy on his lap. Gordon was the loving father of Carol Morgan (Toomas Vilmansen), Kenneth Morgan (Loreta Bajada), and his grandson Michael. Visitation will be held at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair and McGarry, 315 McLeod St, Ottawa on Wednesday October 7 from 2pm to 4pm and in the evening from 7pm to 9pm. The funeral service will be at the same location on Thursday October 8 at 11am. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
