NAIL , Lois Ruth (nee Schooling) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother after a battle with cancer, at the age of 85 years. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-seven years Don; daughter Lori Lou Begarek (Don); son Greg (Heather); five grandchildren Russell (Wendy), Cristy (Curtis), Lacy (Greg), Kylie, and Gage; six great-grandsons Jayden, Ashton, Jayse, Tanner, Kody, and Chase. She was predeceased by her parents, and her parents-in-law. Mom was born April 7, 1924 in Calgary, Alberta, to Ray and Agnes Schooling. She grew up in the farm west of Hussar, and attended grade school there. She graduated from Western Canada High School in 1942 and then attended the University of Alberta, graduating with a B.A. in 1947. After school, she and her life-long friend, Betty (Elias) Gauthier, left for California to work, and enjoy the warmth. She and Dad were married November 21, 1951. They bought a farm northeast of Hussar and farmed there for twenty-six years. In 1977 they moved to Kelowna, then to Fintry, B.C. where they enjoyed retirement together. In 1996 they moved back to Strathmore, where they really retired, and enjoyed being close to their old friends, and making new ones. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church (Hussar) at 2:00 p.m. followed by a lunch at the Sundowners Centre. The family would like to thank everyone for all of your visits, meals, trips to Calgary with Dad, and for just being yourselves. Mom loved you all.
