HOWARD, Elsie 2009-10-16 Miss Elsie Margaret Howard, age 100 years, resident of Versa Care, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 13th, 2009. Born on January 17th, 1909 in Calgary, Alberta, she was raised and educated there. She was employed at the order desk with CIP Paper Company in Calgary and retired after 47 years of service. Elsie was a very strong adherent to the United Church of Canada and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was past Matron of North Star Chapter #34 in Calgary, Alberta and Past Grand Marshall of the Grand Chapter of Alberta. She is survived by her niece Marilyn Hicklin, great nephews Rob (Adena) and their children Cameron and Karli and Jim (Deanna) and their children Taylor and Olivia, nephew John Howard (Vicki) of Barrie, Ontario, great niece Alison (Drew) Currie and their children Matthew and Marlee, great nephew Sean (Samantha) Howard and their children Theron and Autumn of Roseneath, Ontario and great niece Sara (John) Sowell of Greenboro, South Carolina. She was predeceased by her father John Francis Howard in 1923, her mother Minnie in 1965, brother Edward John in 1953 and younger brother Robert (Bert) James in 1999. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service for family and friends as well as interment in Burnsland Cemetery in Calgary will be held at a later date.
