HUOTARI, Walter 2009-10-22 With sadness and love, the family of Walter Huotari announce his passing on Sunday, October 18, 2009 in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. He was born to Intola residents, Edward and Helen Huotari, on January 26, 1936 and lived his entire life in rural areas of Thunder Bay. Walter was blessed with many talents and worked as a "Mr. Fix-it" in several fields. During his partnership with his father in the Huotari Construction Co., Walter acquired his carpentry skills and continued to build and renovate many homes. His most enjoyable moments were spent fishing and hunting with friends or camping with his children in the early years. From this love of the outdoors, Walter created a lucrative bait-fish business which he pursued for 33 years. Walter will be sadly missed by Agnes, his loving wife of 53 years; daughter Sherry and son-in-law Paul Manary; son Kelvin and daughter-in-law Sharleen; grandson Tanner and granddaughter Avery Huotari; sister Violet Harkonen; aunt Helmi Oikari; cousins: Linda Santa, Eileen Winters, Wilfred Ollikkala and other relatives. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24th, 2009 in Lappe Luthern Church, officiated by Rev. Neil Otke. A Private Interment will take place at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Walter’s memory to the Lappe Volunteer Fire Department - First Response Unit, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation - Northern Cardiac Fund, or to a charity of your choice. On-Line Condolences may be offered at www.harbourviewfuneral.ca
