DUNBAR 2009-11-01 Mr. Douglas Roy Dunbar, 62 years, of Red Rock, Ontario passed away Saturday, October 31, 2009 in the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital, Nipigon, Ontario after a brief illness. Doug was a family man who enjoyed his son and grandsons hockey. He loved camping and the outdoors as well as a good card game or a day at the Casino. Doug was worked in Red Rock for Domtar Ltd. and then Norampac for thirty-five years. Predeceased by his mother Grace Dunbar and by a brother David Dunbar; he is survived by his wife Marlene (nee Maenpaa) of Red Rock, by two children – John (& Jennifer) Dunbar of Red Rock and Charlene Dunbar of Mission, British Columbia, by three grandchildren – Jordan, Jodi and Brianna, by three siblings – (Whitey) John (& Sylvia) Smith and Dorothy Spoljarich both of Red Rock and Donald Dunbar of Toronto, Ontario. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. According to Doug‘s wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service for Doug Dunbar, in the care of Elliott Funeral Home Ltd., Nipigon will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 11 A.M. at Red Rock United Church, Red Rock, Ontario. Interment of cremains will be at a later date. Friends so wishing may make donations to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Foundation – Cancer Research or to the Nipigon District Memorial Hospital.
