COSTA, Giuseppe (Barbini Joe) 2009-10-09 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Giuseppe (Barbini Joe) Costa of Schreiber Ontario on October 6, 2009 at the age of 84. Joe, the oldest of seven children was born on March 30, 1925 in Siderno Marina, Italy. Joe arrived in Canada on October 9, 1950, where he first worked at Spadoni Bros. delivering coal and later moved on to work in the shops for CP Rail. Joe married his love, Maria, and together they would soon enjoy 55 years of marriage with their four children and nine grandchildren. In January 1966, Joe moved his family to Thunder Bay and again worked for CP Rail. Five years later, Joe relocated his family back to Schreiber where he began working as a general contractor building basements and houses. Joe will be forever remembered by his wife Maria, his children, Frank (of Nipigon), Tony (Luciana) Costa, Laura (Ray) Gionet, Linda (Joey) Speziale and nine grandchildren, Andrew, Jennifer, Joshua, Brittney, Nathan, Devin, Austin, Amber and Connor. A Resurrection Mass will be held on Friday, October 9, 2009 beginning at 10:00 am at Holy Angel‘s Roman Catholic Church in Schreiber with Father Alex Barrion presiding. Interment is to follow in Schreiber Cemetery. Vigil Prayers will take place on Thursday, October 8, 2009 beginning at 8:00 p.m. also at Holy Angel‘s. Arrangements are entrusted to the King Funeral Home Ltd. in Schreiber. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
