STIRLING, James 2009-10-10 It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of James (Jimmy) Neil Stirling, with his family by his side, on Thursday, October 8, 2009 at the TBRHSC. Jimmy was born in Port Arthur on September 29, 1935 to parents Peter and Kathleen Stirling. He attended local schools, and in his younger years was a proud 15 year member of the MacGillvary Pipe Band. He retired from Abitibi Provincial Papers 16 years ago. Jimmy was a long-time member of the Loyal Order of Moose #947, and was serving as their Administrator at the time of his death. He enjoyed his work at the Moose Lodge, and the many lasting friendships that he made there over the years. Jimmy is survived by his wife Elizabeth, step-children Carolyn Napierala (Don), Warren Mazurski (Vivien), Lana Norton (Tom), and Murray Scott Munro. Grandchildren Stephen Napierala (Christine), Margaret Napierala, Jennifer Mazurski-Simpson (Chuck), Ryan Mazurski, Lisa Norton, Greg Norton (Tracy), and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by brother David Stirling (Fiona) in Montreal, and sisters Patricia Lehto (Karl), Debbie Pawlett (Don), and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents and his brother Peter. A celebration of Jimmy‘s life will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #947, 434 Fort William Road. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, or the charity of your choice. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to doctors Scali, Telang, Anderson, and Nigro, as well as the nurses in ICU and 2C at TBRHSC for their compassionate attention to Jimmy while he was in their care.
