CHICORLI, Robert 2009-10-10 With extreme sadness, the family announces the passing of Rob Chicorli, 51. Loving husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend to all. Rob passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, October 7th, with his loving family and pets by his side after a 6 month courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Rob was a lifelong resident of Westfort. He attended Crawford, St. Ann‘s and Westgate. He began work for Saskatchewan Wheat Pool where he remained for 15 years until he decided to further his education at Confederation College. After earning his Marketing Diploma (Dean‘s Medal recipient), he was employed in several positions at the college. At the time of his diagnosis this past spring, he was a program officer in the Centre for Continuing Education. As a child, Rob played hockey and in highschool he played football for the Tigers. In his highschool years, Snake could often be found at Steve‘s Poolroom. He was an avid golfer and was able to play up until 2 weeks ago and his last game he had one of his best scores. Robby also enjoyed curling and served on the board of directors at the Fort William Curling Club for 12 years and was President for the 08-09 season, resigning in April due to his illness. Rob was a dyed-in-the rouge, blanc and bleu wool Habs fan and could be found most Saturday evenings in “Scuttlebutt”, his hockey shack, cheering them on and stoking the wood stove in the company of his friends, family and cherished dogs, Sassy and Bella. Robby was a true sports fan which was evident every Sunday as he suited up in his yellow & purple and cheered for his mighty Vikings. He loved taking the dogs out to camp at Little Trout Bay with his father-in-law and friends, where he marvelled at “the girls” joy of running wild and barking out in the wilderness. Rob leaves behind to mourn his beloved and loving family, wife Lynda and son Michael; sisters Elsie and her husband Jean Gauthier (Diane, Rick, Michelle and John) Montreal, Sonia and her husband Jim Grant (Allison) Toronto, brother Tom; mother and father-in-law Valerie and Bill Sproule, brothers-in-law Kevin and Nikki (Tyler and Brittany) and Shawn. Also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Rob was predeceased by his parents, sister Eleanor and Lynda‘s Gramma whom Rob adopted as his own, Jeannette McFarlane aka “Gramma Susie”. A celebration of life will be held at the Fort William Curling Club, 218 N. Vickers Street on Sunday, October 11, 2009 at 2 p.m. Donations to the FWCC elevator fund or Northern Cancer Fund would be greatly appreciated. Online condolences may be made through www.nwfainc.com
