SCOTT, Barbara Windsor (Smith) - age 87 years, of Sarnia, passed away at Bluewater Health - Mitton Site on Saturday, October 24, 2009. Beloved wife of the late William Douglas Scott (1995). Dear daughter of the late Elizabeth W. and the late Ocean G. Smith. Sister of Mrs. Alison (Dr. Reg.) Perkin of Mississauga and the late Joan Carveth (2005) and her husband Bob Carveth (2006). Also survived by 7 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and great nephews. Barbara was an active Member and retired Elder of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Sarnia Seniors VIP Organization at Bayside Mall, once a week from 1982 to 2002. St. Joseph's Gift Shop (Bluewater Health) where she could be seen working every Friday, Honourary Member of the Rotary Club of Sarnia where she was presented with the Paul Harris Fellowship award. Community involvement included Board of Directors of the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Past President of the Zonta Club of Sarnia, Past Member of the I.O.D.E. Vidal Chapter, Women's Business and Professional Club and the International Symphony Women's Association. Since retiring Barb spent nearly every day driving her friends to their appointments and visiting the sick. Since 2000 Barbara has been active with Lambton Motors for the collection of teddy bears for all Christmas hampers and social services. Eventually she became "The Bear Lady" and was added to the Mayor's Honour List. Friends will be received at the McCORMACK FUNERAL HOME - STEWART CHAPEL, 254 George Street Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Thursday, October 29 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Raymond Hodgson officiating. Cremation with interment in Sutherland Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to the Rotary Club of Sarnia Charitable Foundation or St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Organ Guild.
