Hazel Philpott Funeral arrangements by Chapel Lawn Funeral Home Peacefully on Thursday, September 16, 2004 at Riverview Health Centre, Mom went to join Dad at the age of 78. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Bert; her mother and father; and brother Arthur in childhood. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Wayne; daughter Brenda (Rick) Sabescay; and grandchildren, Christoper and Ashley. She also leaves her brother Harold (Hazel) Wilson; and sister June (Allan) Hayward. Mom worked at Eaton's for over 25 years and retired with Dad to do what they loved best - camping. They had a good ten years of traveling to their favourite fishing spots and campgrounds and finally settled in Gimli. The winter months brought them out to enjoy watching both grandchildren play hockey. It wasn't until ill health prevented them both from going, which they missed terribly. Hazel was a loving mother and grandmother. She will be also missed by her brother and sisters-in-law and their families. Mom truly missed the great friends she had made at the Gimli Legion. She constantly wished she was well enough to be there with them this summer. A very special thank you to her niece Linda (Coleman) for the frequent visits and companionship. Also the compassionate and caring staff at Riverview Health Centre. Thanks to her special crib partner Wayne at Riverview. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 22 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. A reception will follow.
