IRWIN, Mabel Gertrude Our mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully on October 20, 2009 in Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 90. Mabel was born in Neepawa, Manitoba on May 6, 1919 to Joseph and Agnes Grantham. She was one of fourteen siblings and the last surviving member of her family. She was predeceased by her husband John Allen in May 1996. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her three sons, Barry (Carla), Terry, Rick (Katherine), and her daughter Sharon (Richard Powell), seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mabel and Al were married in 1940 in Plumas, Manitoba. In 1951 they moved to Victoria where they raised their four children. They were very active members of the community of View Royal. Mabel enjoyed cooking, reading and curling but in later years her passion was golf. Mabel moved to Edmonton in 1998 to be closer to her family but she always considered Victoria to be her home. A private service will be held. Interment at Hatley Memorial Gardens.
