YATES, Norma June God Bless Our Mother. Passed away peacefully on October 20, 2009. Born at New Westminster, B.C. on Oct. 31, 1931, daughter to Alice & Gerald Charter of Langley, B.C. and sister to Rene Lily. Widowed in 2006 by loving husband Keith Yates. Her encouraging words will be desperately missed by her daughters, Alison, Robyn & Nicola and her adoring grandchildren, Dylan, Alanna, Robert & Paige. After marrying Keith in 1953, and moving to Toronto, they taught and travelled the world, making lifelong friends and memories, taking on all challenges including raising 3 daughters. June was a wonderful teacher in the classroom and out. After retiring, she lived every day contented on Mayne Island, B.C. where she enjoyed her puzzles, bridge, Blue Jays and beautiful garden. Special thanks to Lori & Bernadette, her Mayne family, who gave her a great quality of life, love & friendship. A service will be held at St. Mary Magdalene on Mayne Island, Sunday October 25th at 1:00 pm. 566025 Published in the Victoria Times-Colonist on 10/23/2009
