Rostad, Alma Josephine (nee Voge) passed away peacefully on October 18, 2009, at the age of 95 years. Alma, youngest of the eight living children of Johanna and Andrew Voge, was born on her parents' homestead in the Kinbrae district near Bredenbury. Prior to her marriage, Alma taught in schools at Birmingham and Stockholm, and at Glyndwr School (Bredenbury). After raising her two daughters, Alma taught at the Good Shepherd Christian Day Kindergarten and at Miller School, both located in Melville, SK. Alma married Phillip Rostad in 1938 and lived in Melville until their moves to Yorkton, SK, and Debert, N.S. during World War II while Phillip was enlisted with the R.C.A.F. In January, 1947, the family returned to Melville where Alma resided until her move to Regina in 2003. Alma will be greatly missed by her daughters, Merle Nostbakken (Dale) and Mavis de Bruin, her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, her sister, Jennie Gray, and her nieces and nephews. Alma is predeceased by her husband, Phillip, her son-in-law, Geert de Bruin, her brother, Alfred Voge, and her sisters, Bertha McGowan, Olga Baines, Anna Ogilby, Selma Bredalsen, and Agnes Nixon. A funeral service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Melville, SK, on Friday, October 23, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Yorkton Memorial Gardens following the reception.
