Byggdin, Ralph Eugene Passed away peacefully with family at his side in Olds, AB Sunday, October 11, 2009 in his 94th year. Much loved husband of Joyce (deceased April, 2009) for over 68 years; wonderful father to Donna Souster (Bill), Lois Cooke (Brian), Rhonda Byggdin (Elgin Eddy), and Vern Byggdin (Sandra); esteemed grandfather of eleven and great grandfather of seven; brother to Lucille Henwood (Scott), and fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, John and Nellie Byggdin; and brothers, Ernest, Wallace and Merle. Ralph was born in Craik, SK June 2, 1916. Heeding the call to the ministry, he moved to Ontario to complete his education at Toronto's Lorne Park College. There Ralph met Joyce, and they were married in January 1941. The young couple moved west to Eyebrow, SK in 1944, where they began pastoral ministry with the Free Methodist Church. Ralph served as pastor in Weyburn, Kindersley, Regina and Prince Albert, and completed his 37-year ministry on St. Joseph Island, ON in 1981. They retired to Saskatoon, SK and Didsbury, AB; enjoyed winters at the Free Methodist Light and Life Camp in Florida; moved to Abbotsford, BC for several very enjoyable years; and finally to Olds, AB (Sunrise Village) in 2005 where Ralph continued to touch lives, as he had over his lifetime, with his quick wit, quiet strength, and kind nature.
