Ralph Sherdahl March 12th, 1905 October 23rd, 2009 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Ralph Sherdahl on Friday, October 23rd, 2009 at Porteous Villa, Saskatoon, SK. He is lovingly remembered by his children Bernice (Joe) Prochera, Sandra (Paul) Pryor, Lynne (Bill) Smout, David (Nonie) Sherdahl; grandchildren; great grandchildren; sister Esther Bennett; brother Ken (Mabel) Sherdahl; sisters-in-law Margaret Greer, Rachel Ironside; brother-in-law Gordon (Elsie) Ironside; numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph was predeceased by his loving wife, Mabel, of 76 years; son Vern (Pat); parents Nellie and Herman Sherdahl; brothers Gordon (Emily), Harvey, Roy (Chris), Kenneth Bert; sisters-in-law Annie (Wes) Plunkett, Joy (Olaf) Andahl, Helen (Harold) Dier, Adaline (Harold) Jeffery; brothers-in-law George (Marg) Ironside, Bill (Myrtle) Ironside, Jim Ironside and Sid Bennett. Ralph was born in Windom, Minnesota. Dad and his family moved to Dundurn district when he was thirteen years old. In his younger years he lived in Brock, Grimshaw, Alberta and Blackstrap. Dad met Mom in Sutherland and they were married March 25th, 1931. Dad farmed and later moved to Dundurn where he was employed at Dundurn Military Camp until his retirement. In Dad's retirement he built a greenhouse, was president of the Dundurn Seniors and was honored to be chosen Pioneer of the Year by the Saskatoon Exhibition for his long record of service to his community. Dad and Mom enjoyed taking bus trips with seniors. They later took up residence in Saskatoon. Dad enjoyed many birthday and anniversary celebrations with family and friends. He had a great sense of humor, loved to read and enjoyed spending time with his family. We would like to extend a very special thank you to Lin and Chen at A & A Personal Care Home and The Staff at Porteous Villa for the wonderful care Dad received. A Celebration of Ralph's Life will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home (east on 8th Street, turn right before railway crossing) on Tuesday, October 27th, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Dundurn United Church, 300 2nd Street, Dundurn, SK S0K 1K0 or charity of ones choice.
